The Faculty’s history dates back to its foundation in 1956 with the original name as Faculty of Marxist-Leninist theories, which  was renamed to Faculty of Political and Social Sciences in 2008. Over nearly 65 years of development, the Faculty, with its part in the joint effort of the University, has trained thousands of intellectuals who possess highly professional qualifications, dynamic and creative thinking, and good skills in solving theoretical and practical problems. Through the years, the Faculty always keeps its leading role in the field of political education and has strived to be a strong unit in the spirit of solidarity.

Apart from teaching all the subjects of Political sciences and Vietnamese laws, the Faculty  has provided training programs in Sociology since 2009 and in Law since 2020. Besides, as a strategy for the faculty’s development, a master program in Community Development has been under preparation to be established. 

In the term of human resources, the Faculty currently has 35 lecturers and 03 administrative staffs, of whom there are 01 associate professor, 09 doctors and 01 Ph.D candidate. With such qualified human force, the Faculty's scientific research activities have flourished recently with an increasing number of researches at ministry and university- level, researches under grants- in-aid of international organizations, articles in national and international scientific journals  and workshops.

In the wake of globalization, the Faculty has promoted international cooperation in training and research with various academic institutions and organizations in the world. Currently, the Faculty has sustained and developed cooperation in training, and broadened prospects for future cooperation in student exchange programs, workshop organization and research collaboration with a number of foreign institutes and universities such as  University of Liège, University of Brussels (Belgium), Chiang Mai University (Thailand), University of Missouri (USA), Kanazawa University (Japan) Chung Nam University (Korea), Institute of Development Studies (IDS, UK), Institute for Social Studies (ISS, The Netherlands) ...

In his speech at the ceremony, Dr. Huyen sent his congratulations to all lecturers and staffs of the Faculty and praised their efforts for the Faculty’s development since the establishment. Dr. Huyen expressed his wish for further development of the Faculty in terms of human resources and organizational structure. As a part of the university, the Faculty is expected to contribute to realizing the University’s strategies and missions.

On the behalf of all lecturers and staffs of the Faculty, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dien  expressed her appreciation to the Party Committee, University Council and Board of Directors for crucial support given to the Faculty in the tasks of training, research and international cooperation.

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Dien emphasized that all lecturers and staffs of the Faculty will keep up efforts to improve their skills and qualifications and commit to developing the Faculty in accordance with the tasks assigned by the Director, on the basis of the Faculty’s strengths with adaptability to the context of the country and region./.
